It’s February and Phil the groundhog saw his shadow. Here are some new shops you can warm up at with a hot cup of coffee (or tea! or hot cocoa!) for the next six weeks:

New York

Owl Juice Pub (Williamsburg and Bushwick)

A post shared by (@owljuicepub) on

Come for a cup of coffee or a smoothie, stay for the bagels. Owl Juice Pub has a great food menu, with drinks to boot. Plus lots of gluten-free and vegan options!

Bon Vivant (Midtown East)

A post shared by (@bonvivant.newyork) on

Nom nom nom. What’s better than a shop that serves a good cup of coffee and also specializes in mini cakes? Opt for a cappuccino and a decadent little cake of your choosing, and bask in the glory that is Bon Vivant.

Madman Espresso (Upper East Side and Kips Bay)

A post shared by (@madmanespresso) on

Already a CUPS favorite, we can’t wait to check out these new east side locations of Madmen Coffee. Known for their Madmanchino (dark chocolate, chai, cinnamon), their “standard” drinks are as good as their whimsical ones (honestly, we struggle to choose every time!).

Kave Espresso Bar (Bushwick)

A post shared by (@kavebrooklyn) on

We’ll travel to Brooklyn if it means organic espresso. Kave also serves 24-hour cold brew and french press coffee, all using organic, fair trade, locally sourced beans. Plus, they have a beautiful ambience, not to mention some pretty yummy food, including vegan pastries.

Kitten Espresso Bar (Bed-Stuy)

A post shared by (@doughjackson) on

While this isn’t one of those cat cafes, it is an adorable tiny coffee shop in Bed Stuy that knows what it’s doing when it comes to coffee. We prefer that any day. The coffee is stellar and so are the friendly baristas.

Cafe Frederick (West Harlem)

A post shared by (@cafefrederick) on

With great hours, lots of open space, and killer crepes, Cafe Frederick is a great place to saddle up for the day and get working. They of course also serve a great cup of coffee using locally-roasted Brooklyn Roasting Company beans.

My Sweet and Only (Downtown Brooklyn)

A post shared by (@darlingdistrict) on

Nestled in the Dazzler Hotel, this cafe has a full menu with healthy and delicious eats, as well as wonderful coffee, wine, and beer. The perfect spot to chill out after walking over the Brooklyn Bridge.

Emerald Hills Cafe and Roastery (Redwood City)

A post shared by (@emeraldhillscafe) on

With a tagline like “by fanatics, for fanatics,” you know Emerald Hills has great coffee. It’s roasted in-house and always served within 10 days of roasting. Try a pourover to truly experience the depth of the flavor!

Grace Coffee Roasters (Downtown Sacramento)

A post shared by (@gracecoffeeroasters) on

Next time you’re at the Convention Center, you’re in for a treat. Jump across the street to Grace Coffee Roasters. The coffee is fantastic and they have delicious pastries and quiche, plus you skip the lines at the Convention Center’s (conventional) coffee shops.

Tempered Cafe & Chocolate (Germantown)

A post shared by (@temperednashville) on

Not only does this Germantown joint specialize in all types of decadant chocolates, they also have a full menu, great coffee, and even spiked coffee and hot cocoa options in addition to wine, beer, and libations. Maybe we’ll set up shop to work in the morning, then stay until the evening to party.

Velo Coffee Roasters (Hill City and South Side)

A post shared by (@velocoffee) on

With two spots to choose from, you can’t go wrong at Velo Coffee Roasters. We recommend their Nitro Cold Brew or a cortado, both of which are excellent.

Plus Coffee (St. Elmo)

A post shared by ( on

Instagram-worthy Plus Coffee makes a damn good pour over. Not to mention the baristas really know their stuff when it comes to coffee. They also have a lovely book selection.

Mammoth Coffee (Northern Liberties)

A post shared by (@mammoth_coffee) on

If you are into creative coffee drinks, Mammoth Coffee is your spot. With options like fluffernutter and mango marshmallow lattes, you’re in for a sweet treat. Plus, they have vegan doughnuts!
